1-What Documents Are Accepted for Currency and Gold Conversion?
At Merex, it is very important to present a valid ID when trading currencies or gold.
We accept the following forms of identification:
1. Danish passport
2. Danish driver’s license
Please note: Electronic driver's licenses are not accepted. Only physical licenses are valid.
3. National ID card or passport for EU/EEA citizens
4. Valid passport for non-EU citizens
2. How Do I Pay When Buying Currency or Gold?
At Merex, we accept the following methods of payment:
1- Card Payment
We accept Visa, Visa Dankort, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
2- Cash Payment
You can pay with Danish cash in our stores. Danish coins are accepted; however, if you bring more than 100 coins, a counting fee may apply.
Please note: There is a daily limit for cash payments.
Our staff are required to ask about the origin of the funds and the purpose of the transaction, whether you pay by card or cash. In certain cases, you may also be asked to provide documentation. This is a legal requirement under anti-money laundering regulations.
Important: The final approval of any transaction is subject to the discretion of our staff, based on the documentation and explanation you provide.
3- Do I Have to Pay a Fee to Sell Currency?
At Merex, you are not charged any fees when exchanging your travel currency.
4- Can I Buy Gold Bars?
Yes, you can purchase gold bars from Merex! We offer a wide range of gold bars from trusted, reputable brands. We ensure that all our gold bars are certified, authentic, and come with proper documentation, making your investment safe and secure.

5- Can I Sell My Gold Bars?
Yes, you can sell your gold bars! At Merex, we offer a buy-back service for gold bars. However, we only purchase gold bars from reputable and sealed brands. This ensures that the gold's authenticity and quality are guaranteed, making the transaction secure for both parties.

6- Is Investment Gold Subject to VAT?
In Denmark, investment gold is exempt from VAT. This exemption applies to gold bars and coins that meet specific criteria, including established purity standards, weight, and market identification. These products must comply with the regulations outlined for investment-grade gold.
